Salt Lake City

You know that moment when you're just about to sit down and write a good old blog post and then someone texts you and says you have rehearsal? Yeah. Me too. It happens to me all the time. My life these past couple of weeks has been CRAZY! Have you ever seen a wazooo? Because I'm pretty sure my life is one. Just saying.

However, exciting and fun things CAN happen in a wazooo. Happiness does exist there! Happy wazooo was discovered in a little city I like to call Salt Lake. It is tradition for A Capella and Chamber choir to go and sing at Temple Square every year at Christmastime. This year we sang at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, the Assembly Hall, and the North Visitor's Center. Our first performance was a little rough, but our second was brilliant and by far my favorite. The Assembly Hall was built by the pioneers when they first came to Utah and it is gorgeous. It's old, but that makes it even more beautiful. The acoustics are prime and the spirit is so obviously present there. We sounded marvelous. There was a man sitting right in my range of vision who obviously had a mental illness; but each time we would start a song, his whole countenance would light up and he would sing along and smile. That to me was beauty in and of itself. I love the power that music has and I'm thankful that I have been blessed to be able to share that power with people.

Salt Lake, while spiritual was also very funny. And stupid. And dramatic. And hilarious. So I've come up with a list of things I learned.

Lessons Learned in SLC

1. Skanoodledoodle = scratching someone's arm.
2. Abraham Lincoln is a hobbit.
3. Andy is a confederate....or a Nazi.
4. Rian DOES like boys.
5. Lights off = scratchy business..
6. Dead Andy = Woody.
7. Ultimate bus game = Boggle.
8. Never assume that members of the opposite gender are the hungry ones. Because then all the men run across the street with 3 seconds left on the crosswalk and leave all the girls behind and they all split up because they assume that the other party is hungry and then they never get back together and they all get very confused.
9. RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE!!!!!!!
10. Silent Night gets pretty scratchy when used as a love song..
11. Mary, Joseph LEND YOUR AID.
12. "Ginger's rule!"
13. No lying on holy ground. :)
14. Always wear black shoes with black dresses.
15. Always wear pants under dress...especially in winter.
16. The Relief Society Building is NOT open to visitors.
17. Always stalk brides on their wedding day.
18. Never wear heels...ever.
19. Haley likes corn bread...not rolls. Deal with it.
20. Ignorance is bliss.

Basically it was a party in the wazooo! Can't wait for next year!
